Three options, three very different jobs. Dry cleaning, a full machine wash, and a dry wash spray for clothes all keep your wardrobe in shape, but using the wrong one wastes time, money and the lifespan of your favourite pieces. Here’s a simple guide to what to reach for, and when.
The full wash: for genuinely dirty clothes
A proper wash is the right call when a garment is visibly dirty, has been heavily sweated in, or smells like it means business. Underwear, socks, gym kit after a hard session and anything stained needs water, detergent and a cycle. The trade-off is wear and tear: every wash slowly fades colour and breaks down fibres, so you don’t want to do it more than necessary.
Dry cleaning: for special and structured pieces
Dry cleaning uses solvents rather than water, which suits tailored suits, structured coats and delicate materials that water would ruin. It’s the specialist option for silk, suede and leather, and for pieces labelled dry clean only. It’s effective, but it’s also the most expensive and least convenient of the three, so it’s overkill for everyday refreshing.
Dry Wash: for the in-between days
This is the gap most wardrobes are missing. Nueday Dry Wash Fabric Spray is a fabric refresher spray that refreshes garments between washes, helps reduce germs, eases static and de-wrinkles, no water or cycle required. It’s perfect for jeans, jumpers, work uniforms and lightly worn activewear that aren’t dirty, just a bit second-day.
Using it is quick. Lay the garment flat and spritz from about 15cm with extra on the pits, smooth the wrinkles with your hands, then let it hang for 5 to 10 minutes. Wash your hands after use. A mini reset, no laundry basket involved.
A quick decision guide
Dirty, sweaty or stained? Full wash. Tailored, structured, or labelled dry clean only, including silk, suede and leather? Dry cleaning. Just a little tired, creased or in need of a freshen between wears? Reach for the Dry Wash. It freshens and de-wrinkles, but it won’t replace a real wash, so keep that line clear and always patch test on an inconspicuous area first.
Use the right tool, love your clothes longer
Matching the method to the mess means fewer unnecessary washes, lower bills and clothes that last. For the full breakdown on fabrics and safety, see our Dry Wash FAQ, or read more about Nueday.
